Why is being unique so important?

Writer: ChristinaChristina

I just created my very own, unique, tailor-made piano song with a talented pianist and that got me wondering, why is it so important to me, to you, to us to stand out? To be unique?

Why was it so important to me to have a melody that is created by me, that captures my vibe, my message? First of all because music definitely just does something to me. It lifts me up, it brings my day so much more joy - I cannot imagine a life without music - even though I’m not musical at all.

And I wanted that for my brand, so it can be experienced with all senses.

But there was something else. I mean, who in this world has their own song? Just tailor-made for them? Why would someone need that?

And for sure I can tell, this wasn’t about needing, it was about wanting.

A desire to express myself through music, this website, my program, the sailing, the mentoring, the yoga. But where is this desire coming from?

I don’t think this was a thing back in the middle age, as you grew up without celebrating or even knowing your own birthday, while sleeping in a room with 10 siblings and going into war for a king you never really seen.

It could be a cultural thing of romantic capitalism, that teaches us that we NEED to be something special in order to BE something at all, reinforced by social media of course where we watch all those individuals living their individual dream.

By the way, that’s the reason why high level brands sell. They sell uniqueness to those who can afford it. They sell exclusivity. They sell „we are different and we like it“.

They sell „I express myself the way I like it, without compromising anything and wearing this Chanel bag.“

Not going for our individual dream therefore is like not living the life we are given to the fullest? Would then not making our dream really individual result in not being special enough? What would happen then?

Does this all at its root come down to the fear of death, our mortality, the impermanence of all things? Is being unique therefore a more reasonable, meaningful way to live? Is uniqueness a product of our egos, competing with each other?

And here we are, with questions that cannot be answered. All you know, is how you FEEL about being unique. Does it feel good, when you really listen to the voice within? Does it feel not needed at all? Or does it feel so and so, sometimes exiting, somethings superfluous?

Tap into the feeling inside - maybe even into the feeling of this beautiful, unique melody - breathing in, filling your lungs with air and letting it out, and read the words I am about to say.

You are enough.

You are perfectly fine the way you are.

Everything you desire is here for a reason.

It’s good to be aware which influences are there around you, isn’t it?

Let them be cultural, in the spirit of age, or over all "just" your inner wish.

As long as you act in a way that feels natural and good to you, you are fine, you’ll act aligned. And that’s what we are here for. Alignment. With what feels right now.

If you’ll leave this world behind some day, the only thing that matters will be if you have lived like it felt good for you. This could work with being the most unique unicorn in this world, or with just being the girl, who likes adventures.

Because you is all there is. And you is all that matters.

That's what Main Character Energy is all about.

Feel it with this song:

Yours, Christina
